<image:title>A B O U T - Meet Diana. Diana likes to make art & ask questions about sexuality, technology and visuality.</image:title>
<image:caption>At any given moment she is doing things that look an awful lot like writing, theorizing, film-making, painting, designing. and game designing. Her art interrogates sexualty, femininity, queerness, race, and digital visual culture. Her painting is an extension of Photographic Expressionism and plays on visuality of social media, camera phone materiality and the contradictory permanence//ephemerality of networked photos. She writes about the violence of images, the memory of the internet and a non-corporeal ontology of the body. In her free time, she writes fiction, power lifts, and watches obscene amounts of television. She is currently pursuing a MA in Media, Culture and Communication at New York University. She hopes to continue her practice as a maker-theorist and scholar-artist in future graduate work in an MFA and Doctorate in visual studies, media studies and fine arts.</image:caption>

<image:caption>“For Sale” (2020) Oil on canvas. 24”x48” This portrait explores sex work as a paradoxical site of both agency and shame. By referencing the work of Andrea Fraser, it asks how selling an image of your body as an art commodities mirrors the sale of your body in the sexual marketplace.</image:caption>

<image:caption>“Incel vibes” (2021) Oil on canvas. 36”x48”. This work continues the dialogue with “classically beautiful” by presenting layers between a photo of generically beautiful women posted with a caption, “incel vibes” that reveals an online personality both unaware of and satirizing the culture wars of the late aughts.</image:caption>

<image:caption>“Take it or leave it” (2020) Oil on canvas. 36”x36” I layer the fabric and the nude image, using algorithmic modes of difference in Photoshop while preparing the photo reference for the painting. Each painting becomes an individual unique portrait of that woman’s relationship with her body and her sexuality.</image:caption>

<image:title>For Me or For you - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>“classically beautiful” (2020) Oil on canvas. 36”x48” The title “classically beautiful” is taken from a tweet of the woman in the painting that reads, “Being called classically beautiful is lowkey an insult.” This work investigates sinister privileges that haunt the way our bodies are exchanged, valued and deciphered against the shifting values of neoliberal politics.</image:caption>
